rethinking, looking past the numbers and keeping your mind in the game

good morning...

after last weeks feeling of defeat i am starting this week on a positive note. i had my third weigh in yesterday and again another 1.5lb drop in weight. last week this was really bothering me and i felt crap and like i wasn't trying hard enough....iv had a serious word with my self and today i feel much better. i started off at at 162lb and am now down to 157lbs. I'm realising my biggest enemy is my brain, that needs to be the strongest in the prep. this morning i woke up and realised that my body IS changing, i seem/feel like i have lost a fair bit of body fat around my middle (woo hoo) so i need to concentrate on that and look past the numbers, as long as they are going down we're good.

Let me just put this out there I HAVE NEVER DIETED IN MY LIFE EVER I'm lucky i have never been big so just assumed it was easy, a bit of cardio, some cutting of carbs and hey presto it would just fall off...don't get me wrong its going, but i expected to be at least 10lb down by now (she says laughing at the thought).

what i have realised in these last 3 weeks is that I'm LOVING a bit of cardio, nothing better than just sticking in your earphones and smashing out a few K on he cross trainer. just switching off and having an empty mind for that little bit of time is great, getting super sweaty and feeling accomplished.

had my first abs session yesterday and my god it is vomit inducing, i thought it would be a breeze with my job, you need some serious core strength to get your ass off the floor for longer than 5 seconds but i wasn't prepared for that.

my work outs are becoming harder and i feel like I'm loosing strength but its to be expected and I'm lucky to have great people around me that push me and that know how I'm feeling. its frustrating but i know I'm doing my best.

I'm tired a lot of the time and my bed is calling me at 9pm, a sweet lullaby being sang by the angles of the duvet. i have given in some times but then realise that waking at 5am isn't much fun either.

I'm excited about week 4 and hopefully this week will fly by just like the last 3

In the words of Peter Kay "A pound, whats a pound? i could shit a pound!!"..

UUUGGGHHHH

this week has been hard, i have discovered as much as i enjoy a break on Wednesdays i also hate it.
my routine is out and i don't know what to do with myself.

i had my weigh in today and lost a pound...a fucking pound!!! iv never dieted in my life and thought like like magic it would just drop off, how wrong was i...although a loss is a loss.

i feel super disheartened and don't really know how to change it into a positive.

hopefully next week will have a nicer more upbeat post but for now, I'm just gonna say Adios

First week down

last Saturday i had started my prep for September, i had an extra meal added and was worried this would give me a set back in my weight loss of the competition.

i have been told to introduce cardio into my training routine, i have 20 mins on the tread mill after every training session, speed at 5.5 and a gradient of 6. its pretty boring but iv began downloading pod casts to listen to to keep my occupied.

i usually train legs on a Friday but have had to hold off today, i was told to incorporate calves into my routine as it isn't some thing iv trained before...let me tell you this, its the most vile, debilitating, eye watering pain iv had...worse than any other leg session i have done. the actual work out hurt but was doable but now even 3 days on I'm walking like a T-rex/Mr burns and having to stand like I'm MJ about to execute the moonwalk.

no pain relief, deep heat or primal screaming has helped so far!

i have been told about Bromelain. a friend of mine used to suffer with extreme DOMS and was told about it and she swears by it. so today i hobbled my way through town to Holland & Barrett to purchase some. ill let you know in next weeks blog if it has helped at all and f its the wonder cure I'm looking for.

i had my first weigh in today and was a bit apprehensive as i was sure i had gained some weight, i was about to jump on the scales when i was reminded that i should be weight in the same thing every week...i arched into my bag and pulled out the tiniest pair of pole shorts i had in there, it felt like forever watch the scale tip but up and down. It turns out i had lost 2lb, I'm quite pleased with it as i was sure i had gained plus i get a 4 hour cheat.

iv considered making myself a cheat book, where i can write down all the things i want and could possibly forget she the 4 hour feeding frenzy hits....it could resemble some thing like a shark attack but with me and cakes and crisp.

this weekend will be spent on the cross trainer, watching YouTube for posing tips and throwing these bromelain tablets back my gullet in the hope for some relief.....as it goes deep heat has a rather clashing smell with Tom Ford perfume.

Its DIET day

I'm sat her contemplating the next 16 weeks of my life, i want a coffee but the idea of having to with no milk is making the decision easier to stay away from it.

today is the day iv been waiting for since November, the day i start my prep, I'm a little nervous as this is it now, no pissing about, all or nothing. i currently weigh 162lbs, i had a considerable drop in weight over the last week and have no idea why.

I'm gonna blog at the end of each week now and ill post a picture at the end of every 3 weeks, this is so i can see a difference rather than posting more and not seeing any changes.

keep your fingers crossed for me to still have a sound mind after 16 weeks
